ATHENS - As we reported all summer, the month of July was going to be massive for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs, and one of the biggest commitments they landed last month was from 4-star DL, Jamaal Jarrett, one of the top interior defensive line prospects in the South.
A dominant interior defensive lineman from Grimsley (NC), Jarrett was recruited by the Georgia staff to be “the next Jordan Davis” according to Jarrett, and he wasn’t missing out on that opportunity.
Jarrett was back in Athens this weekend and spoke with Dawg Post about his visit.
“I loved hanging out with some of my teammates and the entire staff”, Jarrett told Dawg Post. “We ate, played games together, and it was all pretty dope. The recruits I spent the most time around were my brothers (Troy Bowles, CJ Allen, Raylen Wilson, and Xzavier McLeod). We all had a great time.”
This was the first time Jarrett was in Athens with Georgia’s three inside linebacker commitments, and it’s clear they spent a good amount of time getting to know one another.
Of course, the biggest reason Jarrett committed to Georgia was because of defensive line coach, Tray Scott. His work ethic, ties to North Carolina, and willingness to work as hard as possible won over Jarrett during the recruiting process.
“Seeing coach Scott and the staff work their tails off every day and still find a way to do so with a smile on their face means a lot”, Jarrett said. “It’s all gas and no brakes for those UGA guys. They don’t throw the towel in because of their love for the game. I just love the people there. I love my future teammates there, too.”
