BIG NEWS: DB Commit Marcus Washington Jr Reclassifies to 2022 Class

Kirby Smart’s 2022 class just got even better as their top-ranked 2023 commitment, four-star cornerback Marcus Washington Jr., announced that he is reclassifying to the 2022 class.
The UGA legacy out of Grovetown (GA) is one of the fastest DB prospects in the country with plenty of length and size at 6-foot-1 175-pounds. He’s put on some muscle and mass over the last 12 months and stood out immediately during the Atlanta Under Armour camp back in February.
Washington was the No. 3 ranked prospect in Georgia for the 2023 class according to Dawg Post, and now he’ll get to Athens a year early. Washington committed to the Bulldogs this time last year on May 15th, and this year he’s announced his reclassification to the 2022 class.
As a prospect, Washington Jr. is an explosive player who helps his Grovetown team in a number of ways. He’s a natural defender with good ball skills, but he’s also a playmaking return man as well. He’s always a threat to score when he has the ball in his hands, but his natural cover skills and toughness should allow him to be a candidate to start at some point in his career. He’s put together well, he plays the ball well, and he runs as well as any defensive back in the state.
Washington Jr. committed to the Bulldogs when former assistant Jahmile Addae was on board, but in the end, it didn’t matter who was coaching Georgia. Washington was going to be a Georgia Bulldog no matter what.
The Bulldogs signed five defensive backs earlier in the 2022 class in cornerbacks Daylen Everette, Jaheim Singletary, and Julian Humphrey, three of the best across the country. The Bulldogs also signed safeties Malaki Starks and JaCorey Thomas. With Washinton Jr. one board, you could make the case that Kirby Smart signed the best DB class across the country in the 2022 class.
