Kirby Smart, Bryan McClendon, and the rest of the Georgia staff got good news today as they’ve made the “Top 3” for a four-star wide receiver target.
The Bulldogs have had no trouble recruiting top talent out of California, and they’re in the mix this year for playmaking receiver, Rico Flores Jr.
The Folsom (CA) standout released his final three schools that include Georgia, Ohio State, and Notre Dame with a commitment coming on July 3rd.
The 6-foot-1 190-pounder was in Athens in late April and sources say the Bulldogs have had some momentum in his recruitment ever since. He’s an impressive route runner with excellent hands, so it’s easy to see why the Bulldogs are after the Sacramento native.
McClendon has one current receiver committed in the 2023 class in four-star Raymond Cottrell. Georgia’s new assistant and former receiver in the mid 2000s also has the Bulldogs well positioned for four-stars Hykeem Williams, Tyler Williams, and Jalen Brown, all big-time playmakers from Florida.
McClendon is also recruiting two of the better receiver prospects in Texas in four-star Jalen Hale and three-star Anthony Evans.
Then there’s JUCO standout Malik Benson, who put the Bulldogs in his “Top 5” last week. Benson, whose recruitment could come down to Georgia and Alabama in the end, told Dawg Post that the Bulldogs are making him a “priority”, and that was one of the biggest reasons why they are in his final group.
We’ve reported for a while now that if there’s one thing to expect out of Georgia’s 2023 class, it’s that Bryan McClendon is going to sign an extremely talented receiver class. It’s a deep group across the country, and the Bulldogs appear to be towards the top for some of the nation’s best wideouts as we inch closer to the summer.
