ATHENS - 5-star QB prospect Arch Manning‍ admits that Athens is the best college town he’s been to, and that Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs are still one of the three schools he’s considering.

Where things go from there is anyone’s guess, but both Texas and Nick Saban’s Alabama will be involved. It remains to be seen where Manning will go on all of his official visits, but the 5-star prospect told On3 that he’s possibly going to involved the Gators and in-state LSU in his final determination.

Manning said he likes Athens more than any college town he’s been to so far.

“Athens is probably the best college town I’ve ever been to,” he said.

Manning has been to Georgia multiple times including his visit during the Dawgs’ beating of South Carolina last fall during the Bulldogs’ 2021 National Championship season

“The coaches are all good people, they know how to win, know what it takes, and it was cool seeing that,’ he said.

Insiders view Texas and Alabama as Georgia’s biggest threats to sign Manning. Most insiders think Georgia and the Longhorns are favored to get him, with Texas holding a lead heading into the summer.

“I guess it’s kind of narrowing stuff down. I’m looking forward to (making a decision) either before the season or during the season or after the season,” Manning said.
If I was ready I’d probably commit right now, but I’m not, so I’m just waiting.”

Time will tell what happens next in the saga. Manning added that he was impressed to watch the Dawgs practice, and that the NFL Draft shows how gifted Georgia is right now.

“I love coach Kirby (Smart), and he’s a real normal guy, a great coach. Georgia, the takeaway from practice there, is that they have athletes all over the field, especially on the defensive line,” he said. “They have some studs and it shows; they had 15 players drafted.”
