ATHENS - Georgia Bulldogs DB Derion Kendrick was drafted No. 212 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams.

The former four-star prospect was a part of the Georgia Bulldogs 2021 national championship. Kendrick transfered to UGA from Clemson just before the No. 5 Dawgs beat the No. 3 Tigers 10-3 to start the 2021 season.

Kendrick said just after the Orange Bowl that Kirby Smart didn’t have to risk taking Kendrick, but he did.

“Everybody, if you follow football, everybody knows what happened in my situation. Being thrown into the portal, nobody had to take a chance on me at all, but they did,” he said. “And when I got here, I mean, I just fit in, just doing what I do, just came in, put my head down and put in the work. They accepted me for who I was and not what happened in the past.”

The move paid off for the Dawgs. Kendrick started all 15 games of the season. He was named AP and Coaches’ All-SEC 2nd Team.

Kendrick ended 2021 with 41 tackles, a team-high four interceptions, three QB pressures and three pass breakups. He was the defensive MVP of Capital One Orange Bowl. In that game he had two interceptoins and five tackles in win over No. 2 Michigan.
