ATHENS - Georgia Bulldogs punter Jake Camarda was drafted No. 133 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft by Tampa Bay.
The former Norcross star was a part of the Georgia Bulldogs 2021 national championship. Camarda voted to the SEC Coaches’ All-SEC 1st Team and AP 2nd Team. Camarda finished as UGA's career leader in punting average with a mark of 45.78, surpassing 2009 Ray Guy Award winner Drew Butler (45.4).
"This kid can get you our of trouble - punt you right out of trouble. This pick is not a reach. He has rare leg strength,” ESPN’s Mel Kiper said of Camarda.
Camarda punted 47 times in 2021 for an average of 46.7 yards, with a long of 68 yards vs. Alabama in Atlanta. He also had a 63-yarder vs. Kentucky, a 62-yarder vs. Tennessee and a 61-yarder vs. Charleston Southern.
Sixteen of his 47 punts were either downed or fair caught inside the 20-yard line...also kicked off 102 times, with 71 touchbacks and 16 others resulting in a fair catch.
