Georgia Bulldogs TE Brock Bowers to Miss Spring Football

ATHENS - Georgia Bulldogs TE Brock Bowers will miss spring practice for the Bulldogs. 

Bowers, who was named both the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) Freshman of the Year as well as the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year, scored the Bulldogs’ final offensive touchdown in the Dawgs’ 33-18 win over Alabama to with the national title. 

Bowers has a labrum issue that requires surgery according to several reports. He is expected to be back working with the team by summer. 

The 15-yard touchdown pass from Stetson Bennett put Georgia up 26-18 late in the final period as the Bulldogs clinched their first national title in 41 years. 

But Bowers was one of Georgia’s top overall players in 2021. He finished with a team-best 56 catches for 882 yards and 14 total touchdowns (13 receiving, one rushing). He owns school records in receptions, yards and receiving touchdowns for a tight end. 

Bowers will be one of the top players in all of college football next fall as FanDuel has him at  +15000 odds to win the 2022 Heisman Trophy next season.
