Video Shows Bryan McClendon's Return to UGA

ATHENS - The Georgia Bulldogs released a video of new receivers coach Bryan McClendon on Monday. 

McClendon is greeted by Kirby Smart at the start of the video and makes his way through the Dawgs’ new football facility. He says hello to Ladd McConkey, Kenny McIntosh and other Dawgs during the video. 

One of the best recruiters of late for the Georgia Bulldogs, McClendon is slated to coach receivers for the Bulldogs after being away from the program for six seasons. An opening at receivers was created when Cortez Hankton accepted a position at LSU this winter.

McClendon will be tasked with developing a diverse group of receivers in Silver Britches that could include the return of Arik Gilbert to college football this fall. On Tuesday, Kearis Jackson announced his return to the Dawgs’ program. AD Mitchell, Ladd McConkey, Arian Smith, Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint and Dominick Blaylock headline a group that will have to replace the production of George Pickens and Jermaine Burton, who both left the program after 2021. 

McClendon played at Georgia from 2002 to 2005. After a season in the NFL with the Bears, McClendon returned to Athens to be a graduate assistant. In 2009, McClendon was elevated by Mark Richt as an assistant coach for running backs. He then ripped on a recruiting run the likes of which ranks up there with one of the top in Bulldog history at any position. 

McClendon signed Isaiah Crowell, Keith Marshall, Todd Gurley, Sony Michel and Nick Chubb from 2011 to 2014. A season later he moved to coach receivers before being name interim head coach for the win over Penn State at the conclusion of the 2015 season. 

From 2016 to 2019, McClendon was an assistant at South Carolina under Will Muschamp. After Muschamp was fired by the Gamecocks McClendon moved to Oregon for two seasons. Earlier this season McClendon was named as the receivers coach and Co-Offensive Coordinator at Miami under Mario Cristobal.
