ATHENS - One of Georgia’s top defenders, defensive lineman Travon Walker, has made his decision to skip his senior season and enter his name into the 2022 NFL Draft.
Walker, a former five-star prospect out of Upson Lee (GA), was a multi-year starter for the Bulldogs and a key member of one of the best defensive units in college football history.
A hard-hitting defensive tackle at 6-foot-5 275-pounds, Walker was a wrecking ball throughout his career, playing multiple positions along the line and showing the ability to stop the run while getting to the QB. He's an elite athlete for his position and will make one NFL team very happen in late April.
Walker was a top priority for the Georgia staff in the 2019 class, committing to Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs over Alabama, Clemson, and others on July 24, 2018. He was ranked as the No. 3 DT prospect and the No. 22 overall prospect in the country out of high school in the 2019 class.
As a freshman in 2019, Walker was named Freshman All-SEC Team has recording 15 tackles and 2.5 sacks on the season. His sack on 4th down against Auburn sealed the Bulldog’s victory on the Plains.
As a sophomore in 2020, The Upson-Lee standout was one of the most consistent defenders on the defense, playing in nine games and making plenty of stops throughout the season.
As a junior this past fall, Walker started in all 15 games, making 37 tackles, second among interior linemen on the team. He also had 6 sacks, 7.5 TFLs, and a team-high 36 QB hurries.
