Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs had an excellent Signing Day last month, signing most of their 2022 class, but they added another piece to the puzzle today as four-star offensive guard Earnest Greene committed to Georgia over Alabama, Ohio State, Texas, among others.
The massive 6-foot-5 330-pounder is a powerful interior lineman with excellent upper-body strength and a balanced base. He’s powerful on the inside and can open up a lot of holes in the running game. He’s built well and knows how to get the opposing defender to the ground.
One of the top 2022 offensive line prospects across the country, Greene took his official visit to Georgia early in the season, the weekend of September 18th. Greene took official visits after that to Texas, Ohio State, Alabama, and USC, but in the end, his relationship with offensive line coach Matt Luke made the Bulldogs the front-runner in his recruitment.
Greene played offensive tackle for his St. John Bosco team but will likely move inside at the next level. He’s quick for his size, moves his feet well, and can overpower opposing defensive lineman with ease, playing in one of the toughest regions across the country. His overall size and potential made him one of the top offensive line prospect not only in California, but across the country.
When he gets his hands on you, it's over. He does an excellent job of driving the defender backwards and does a nice job of playing until the whistle. He’s a pancake machine, and as he continues to develop and get better as an overall pass protector, Greene could find an opportunity to see the field early on. The Bulldogs are looking for more depth on the interior, and that's exactly what Greene will bring to the table.
Greene becomes the 5th offensive lineman in Georgia’s class, joining OT Aliou Bah, OL Griffin Scroggs, OT Jacob Hood and OL Drew Bobo.
Greene is ranked as the No. 2 interior OL prospect, the No. 3 prospect in California, and the No. 40 overall prospect in the 2022 class.
