ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs are listed as a slight favorite to beat the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide at the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.
FanDuel has opened up with Georgia being a 2.5-point favorite over the Crimson Tide. It is the second time Alabama has been an underdog since the 2015 game. Alabama won both contests.
"I think the public will be on Georgia," John Murray, executive director of the SuperBook at Westgate Las Vegas, told ESPN. "Georgia got to make the last impression, and it was a very, very good one, as they obliterated a good Michigan team. Public may write off Alabama's win over Cincinnati, thinking they (the Bearcats) never should have been there in the first place.”
Georgia has been a big favorite in almost every game this season, and this is the 14th-straight game that they are projected as likely winners. They opened up the season as underdogs to Clemson, and that clearly has not aged well as the Tigers have fallen off a cliff compared to that program’s recent sucess.
