MIAMI - Georgia Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart said Sunday that his team is ready to play Michigan in the Orange Bowl.
Kirby Smart:
It’s awesome to be here. I’ve been a part of the Orange Bowl before, but I have not been here with Georgia. I think our players are excited. We have a lot of players from this area. We recruit this area heavily. I know our players are looking forward to this weather.
Anytime you have a long break between games it is important to understand how your team need to practice and play. You also have to be smart down here with how you practice because you don’t practice at the same time you would play the game. We play the game at night, and we practice during the day.
We’ve been back home and been able to practice. We’ve had some warm weather. We have been fortunate to get 60, 70 degree weather. I know our guys are excited. They have earned the right to be here, and they are excited with the opportunity to represent Georgia and the SEC.
South Florida is very unique. Right now across the country it is not the same as the weather you have in sunny South Florida. I know our players are excited about it.
I think our guys are kind of ready for anything. You jump off the plane, and it was a warm welcome of a group from all of the guys here from the Orange Bowl. It is a special feeling. Sometimes I don’t know if you acknowledge that until later. Most of our guys just woke up from a long nap.
It is good for a lot of people on the outside. A lot of our coaches and their families get to come. It is a reward for them. As far as our players it is is business trip, and they are preparing to play against Michigan.
