ATHENS - A report in the Athens Banner-Herald shows the new landscape of college football recruiting, and how Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs might be attacking it in the future.

The Players’ Lounge, a a digital collaborative space for college fanbases founded by former Georgia starters Ty Frix, Aaron Murray, Keith Marshall and Trent Frix, will launch on January 9, 2022. Investors and fans can purchase one or several NFTs (non-fungible token), and in doing so support Georgia.

The Banner-Herald reports that The Players' Lounge will send “50 percent of profit to current Georgia players partnered within NCAA rules.”

Murray told the Banner-Herald that he wishes he had the opportunity to take advantage of NIL rules when he was playing a decade ago.

““I’m a little bit salty about the new NIL rules because I wish it was out when I was playing,” Murray said. “I think it’s great because I know what these kids are going through and how tough it is. You give up a lot to do it. I love the fact these kids have the opportunity to make some money, and I love the fact that we are providing another way for them to make money.”

The collaborative effort was right up Marshall’s alley. The former five-star running back is at Emory’s Goizueta Business School right now, and told the Banner-Herald he is eager to help push this new technology forward.

"We came together and saw this as an opportunity to bring this new technology and asset class to the Georgia football community that we're all so familiar with," Marshall told the outlet. "The ability to generate excitement within a community centered around a common theme is one of the characteristics that has driven the success of the most popular NFT projects to date."
