Christmas has come early for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs as they’ve landed one of the top overall defensive backs in the country.
5-star DB Daylen Everette, a former Clemson commitment from IMG Academy (FL), committed to the Bulldogs over Alabama today, giving Georgia another elite defender in the secondary.
Everette chose Clemson over Georgia on July 17th, but after Tigers defensive coordinator Brent Venables left for Oklahoma, Everette decided to open things up. He took an official visit to Alabama this past weekend, but sources say his long-establisheed relationship with the Georgia staff won out in the end. Dawg Post was also told that Georgia recruited Everette harder and made him more of a priority than Alabama did.

What are the Bulldogs getting in Everette?
Length and ball skills.
At 6-foot-1 185-pounds, Everette if a bigger cornerback with plenty of size and length. He's not necessarily a “burner” as it relates to his overall speed, but he has enough speed for someone with his length. He closes well and knows how to make a play on the ball.
Everette made 11 INTs as a sophomore at Norview High School in Virginia before transferring down to IMG Academy as a junior. He plays the ball like a receiver and does a great job of turning back and looking for the ballwhile it’s still in the air.
He's techincally sound from a footwork standpoint and runs well for someone with his frame. Overall, it’s his ball skill, natural instincts, and length that make him one of the top cornerback prospects in the country.
