Signing Day isn’t here quite yet, but Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs got some good news today as they picked up a commitment from one of the fastest prospects in the entire country.
That would be four-star CJ Smith.
The 6-foot-1 180-pound wide receiver out of Mt. Dora (FL) is a former Florida Gator commitment who opened up his recruitment on December 7, 2021. Two days later, receivers coach Cortez Hankton went in for an in-home visit with Smith and was able to lock him in for an official visit.
Smith was in Athens for his official visit to Georgia this past weekend and the Bulldogs quickly shot up to the front of his list.

What are the Bulldogs getting in Smith?
Size and speed. One of the fastest prospects in the entire 2022 class, Smith is a legitimate track star who won the state championship as a junior in both the 100m and the 200m. He’s also long and has a frame that will allow him to put on more weight and muscle.
The Bulldogs are looking for speed, and that’s exactly what Smith brings to the table. Smith missed lots of time in both his junior and senior seasons due to injury, but if he’s healthy, his speed is game-changing. He played outstanding as a junior, showing he can win jump-balls and play physical on the outside. A lot of track stars can’t translate and play physical on the gridiron, but it appears Smith has the potential to make the transition.
His speed might get him on the field early on, but he has a lot of developing to do as a player. He needs to go from a track star to a true receiver who can run routes, get open consistently, and be able to block on the outside in the run game. There’s a lot of potential for him to be a big-play threat, but he’s not someone who is expected to see the field a lot early on.
Where do the Bulldogs go from here?
The Bulldogs now appear to be done at receiver for the 2022 class with Smith joining four-star De'Nylon Morrissette, three-star Cole Speer and three-star Dillon Bell.
Smith is ranked as the No. 34 WR prospect, the No. 26 prospect in Florida, and the No. 224 prospect in the 2022 class.
