CLAYTON - If you’re in North Georgia, or a Georgia fan anywhere, and you haven’t gone to see Georgia Bulldogs QB commit Gunner Stockton yet, you need to make plans to see him in the next few weeks.
He’s one of the all-time great QBs in Georgia high school football history, and it’s worth the drive to go watch him play.
Dawg Post went up to beautiful Rabun County last weekend to watch Stockton perform in his first playoff game as a senior. Once again, Stockton more than impressed, as he has his entire career. He’s the state’s leading passer at the moment, and he’s already etched his name deep into the Georgia state record books.

The playmaking QB set all sorts of records this season, including a new one that he broke this past Friday night as he passed former Gainesville star Deshaun Watson for most total yards in a career. Stockton also holds the record for most career total touchdowns (244), most career passing touchdowns (171) and most total career yards (17,248).
Against Pace Academy on Friday night, Stockton proved why he’s one of the top dual-threat QBS in the country. He’s a passer first, and threw for five touchdowns in the game, but he was able to show off his legs early and often. He was effective on the ground from the start, and ended the night with season-best 154 rushing yards and two touchdowns, both coming in the first half.
After running through the Pace Academy defense in the first half, Stockton saw plenty of windows to throw too in the 2nd half, and ended the night 18/21 for 302 yards and five touchdown passes.
He has a talented arm, but his ability to run has to make Georgia fans excited. Not only is he deceptively fast at 220-pounds, but he has no problem running through tackles and getting tough yards. His skillset can be tough to defend, especially with defenses knowing that he rarely turns the ball over. Stockton has thrown for 49 touchdowns this season, and he only has ONE interception.
On the season, Stockton has thrown for 3,530 yards and 49 TDs. He's also rushed for 784 yards and 11 more scores.
In his career, Stockton has thrown for 13,048 yards and 171 touchdowns to go along with 17 INTs. He's also rushed for 4,200 yards and 73 touchdowns.
He's the real deal. He’s shown it his entire career, and he proved it once again on Friday night.
