Georgia released a statement confirming the ruling on Friday just before 6 PM. The decision ends weeks of speculation about Robertson’s future this fall. The Cal transfer has participated this August in pre-season practices with the Bulldogs.

“I hope he can play this fall, but that is out of my hands,” UGA coach Kirby Smart told reporters at SEC Media days before Robertson was cleared . “We have to concentrate on the guys we have who are eligible. I won’t know much about the waiver. That is out of my hands.”

Robertson’s waiver request is one of many the NCAA has approved of late. He now joins an offense at UGA that is trying to expand its passing presence. The Bulldogs’ receivers have talked about becoming the best receivers in the country. Robertson will help them with that goal.

Robertson sat out much of his sophomore season at Cal, but had a breakout freshman year for the Bears: 50 receptions for 767 yards and seven TDs.

Robertson's clearing comes just over two years after he picked Cal in an upset over Georgia at the College Football Hall of Fame weeks after 2016 Signing Day. He announced his transfer from Cal on June 21. He said “personal matters” were the reason he was transferring.
