It hasn’t been an ideal month of July for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs on the recruiting trail, but they got some HUGE news today as they’ve landed a commitment from one of the top running back prospects in the country.
4-star Branson Robinson.
The Germantown (MS) star chose the Bulldogs over Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi State, among others. Dawg Post has reported for months now that the Bulldogs were the team out in front in his recruitment, and sources say his official visit to Athens the first weekend of June was all he needed to see.
“Coach McGee and I talk like we’ve known each other years now”, Robinson told Dawg Post. “We talk about way more than football. They always let me about the rich tradition of them developing and producing big-time running backs to the NFL and how coach McGee has a special relationship with them still to this day”.
INSIDER: Adding Robinson “is a Big Deal”
Robinson took official visits to Alabama and Tennessee in June as well, but Robinson couldn’t turn down an opportunity play play for “RBU”.
As a player, Robinson checks all the boxes at running back. His thick, powerful build will remind Georgia fans of Nick Chubb, and his film as a junior looks like Chubb’s as well. Not only is he a tackle-breaking machine, Robinson runs really well for someone his size. As big and strong as he is, the four-star is consistently one of the fastest players on the field at all times. He can accelerate once he gets through the line of scrimmage and is looking to score very time he touches the ball.
As a junior last year, Robinson rushed the ball 121 times for 1,179 yards and 15 touchdowns. Robinson gives the Bulldogs two running back commitment in the 2022 class, joining four-star Jordan James of Oakland (TN).
