Major UGA DB Target Sets Commitment Date
We told you some of Georgia’s top targets are ready to make their decisions, and one of their top DB targets has announced that he too will make his college decision later this month.
4-star CB target, Daylen Everette.
The IMG Academy (FL) defensive back is a top target for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs who need reliable cornerbacks in a big way. They have one on board in four-star CB Marquis Groves-Killebrew, but lost a commitment from 5-star Deyon Bouie in early June.
Everette, ranked as the No.7 CB prospect, the No.7 prospect in Florida, and the No.40 overall prospect in the country according to the 247 Composite Rankings, announced that he will make his commitment on July 17th.
Everette took his official visit to Georgia the weekend of June 18th with multiple IMG Academy teammates. His next official visit was to FSU the following weekend, then he took an official visit to North Carolina during the final weekend of June. The Bulldogs still need to hold off Clemson and Oregon as well.
Everette is important because the Bulldogs need to load up on talented cornerbacks in this class. They took three in last year’s cycle, but with the 2022 class being incredibly deep at the position, it’s important for Smart and the staff to try and add as many as they can, especially ones with the length and talent that Everette has.
The 6-foot-1 185-pounder has length, ball skills, and the ability to really turn his hips and run with receivers on the outside. He tracks the ball well in the air and can be dangerous to bring down with the ball in his hands. He's physical enough to come down in the box to help in the run game, but he also covers a lot of ground down the field. He shows good instincts in coverage, but his ball skills are what separates him from others at his position across the country.
He's certainly a prospect to know about over the next 9 days...
