ATHENS - The Georgia Bulldogs and Kirby Smart passed out a notable scholarship offer on Tuesday.

Drew Bobo‍, the eldest son of former UGA quarterback and offensive coordinator Mike Bobo, said he earned an offer to Georgia on social media. Tuesday was the first day prospective student-athletes could be on campus to be recruited in over a year.

“After a great camp I’m thankful to say I’ve earned an offer from The University of Georgia,” Bobo said.

Bobo is an offensive lineman for the Hammond School in Columbia, South Carolina. His father had been the offensive coordinator in Columbia in 2020, and was elevated to interim head coach for the final contests of the year for the Gamecocks.

Mike Bobo and Kirby Smart were college teammates at Georgia in the 1990s under Ray Goff and Jim Donnan. Bobo was the starting signal caller from 1995 to 1997. Smart was a starting safety at Georgia, and ended his carer at UGA in 1998.

Both sons of notable high school coaches in Georgia, the duo went on to get their first college coaching jobs under Mark Richt at UGA in the 2000s. Smart then left for the NFL with Nick Saban in 2006, and was with him at Alabama until taking over the head coaching spot from Richt in 2016.

Bobo and Smart remain close friends. The two will face off this fall once more as Bobo accepted the offensive coordinator job at Auburn after his time at South Carolina was over.

At 6-5, 280, the younger Bobo is notably larger than his father. He is considered a consensus three-star prospect. A slew of schools have offered Bobo including Tennessee, Maryland, Kentucky, Georgia Tech and Virginia.
