ATHENS - As we’ve written for the last few weeks, the month of June is going to be a MASSIVE month for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs on the recruiting trail.
The recruiting dead period is finally over, and the Georgia staff will be hosting some of their top commitments and targets in a face-to-face environment for the first time in over a year.
Dawg Post will he releasing a giant visitor list as we get closer to June 1st, but we’ve confirmed that one of the nation’s top prospects plans to get back to Athens for a visit.
That would be 5-star DL Walter Nolen.
The massive 6-foot-4 300-pounder told Dawg Post in late March that the Bulldogs were firmly in the mix in his recruitment, and sources told Dawg Post that Nolen and his family drove through Athens to see the campus after the Atlanta Under Armour Camp.
Sources close to Nolen say he’ll be back in Athens for a camp on June 10th.
That day will be a big one for defensive line coach Tray Scott. Not only will he have the No.2 prospect in the country in town, but he’ll also be hosting two of his top 2023 targets that day.
Dawg Post confirmed that 2023 DE Victor Burley and 2023 DT Kelby Collins will also be in Athens on the 10th to camp and work out for the staff. Both are massive, pass-rushing linemen and ranked as two of the best in the entire 2023 class.
Tray Scott has done an excellent job on the recruiting trail so far and he’ll have a chance to possibly build his future defensive line next month with targets finally getting back on campus.
As for Nolen, there’s a reason why he’s the top-ranked defensive lineman in the country. He moves incredibly well for someone his size and he has enough strength to overpower opposing linemen on a consistent basis.
Dawg Post has been told Nolen hasn’t scheduled an official visit to Georgia yet but he might after a successful visit to Athens next month.
