WATCH: UGA RB Target Sets Weight-Lifting Record

UGA running back target Branson Robinson‍ is from another planet.

Dell McGee’s top target is one of the elite running back prospects in the country and an absolute warrior in the weight-room. The chizzled running back is all muscle at 5-foot-10 220-pounds and resembles former Georgia legend Nick Chubb in the weight room.

But was Nick Chubb dead-lifting 720-pounds in high school? Coach DeBray sure wasn’t. Well, not as a junior in high school at least.

But Branson Robinson can. He broke the state-record dead-lift in the 220-weight class last week, and it didn’t even look like he struggled with it.

To lift that much weight off the ground, not only do you need to have an incredible amount of arm and shoulder strength, but you need tree-trunk sized legs as well. Like Chubb, Robinson is extremely strong in his lower body, which allowed him to bounce off tackles all season last fall. In just nine games last year, Robinson rushed for close to 1,200 yards and found the end-zone 15 times.

That’s because the dude is Mississippi strong. He’s more than a football player. He’s a hard-worker in life and doesn’t lack motivation. He trains hard in the offseason and his weight-room numbers continue to climb and impress.

The Germantown (MS) star is also a freak on the bench-press, throwing up 415-pounds earlier this month right after another workout.

Of course, lifting isn’t everything. It’s always important for running backs to be as big and strong as possible, if that’s what fits their strengths, but elite backs need a lot more than just muscle to be successful in the SEC.  Robinson checks the physical boxes easily, but he also has great vision, acceleration, burst, balance, and an oustanding work ethic.

That’s why he’s become one of Georgia’s top offensive targets in the 2022 class.

Robinson plans to take his official visit to Georgia the weekend of June 4th, and told Dawg Post last week that he still hears from running backs coach Dell McGee “every day.”

He’s a prospect to keep a close eye on moving forward.

Robinson is ranked as the No.5 running back prospect in the 2023 class.
