ATHENS - Georgia hasn’t been ranked this high coming into a season since 2008.

The Bulldogs were ranked No. 4 in the first coaches’ poll of the season. In 2008, the Bulldogs started the year No. 1 and finished with a top-ten ranking at the end of the season.

No. 1 Alabama is followed by Clemson and Ohio State, who just put its head coach on leave. Georgia’s Rose Bowl Game foes, Oklahoma round out the top five. Clemson and Ohio State each received a couple of first-place votes. Alabama took home 61 (all but four).

Washington, Wisconsin, Miami, Penn State and Auburn round out the top ten. The Tigers face the Huskies in the opening game of the year in Atlanta. The SEC’s Mississippi State (No. 18) and LSU (No. 24) are also ranked.
