ATHENS - Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Demetris Robertson was arrested Tuesday afternoon for stealing parking boot.
That’s according to reporting from Marc Weiszer of the Athens Banner-Herald. Georgia coach Kirby Smart has not commented on the report.
Robertson is retuning for his final season of college football after taking advantage of the NCAA’s granting of an additional season football for seniors who have decided to return in 2021.
Robertson was released on $1,050 worth of bonds after being detained in the Henry County Jail Tuesday. It is unclear why he was detained in Henry County rather than Athens-Clarke County. Police allege that Robertson removed a parking boot on his Dodge Charger earlier this month.
The Banner-Herald further reported Tuesday that Robertson was “issued a citation for failing to report upon striking an unattended vehicle for an incident on Oct. 10 at the Ikon student apartments, according to Athens Clarke-Count police. Police determined that Robertson was the driver of the vehicle that struck a 2001 Ford Focus.”
Robertson is a former five-star prospect from Savannah. He signed with Cal in 2016 over Alabama, Notre Dame and Georgia. He had an outstanding freshman season at Berkley. Eventually Robertson transferred to Georgia where he’s been playing since 2018. Robertson ended his 2021 season with 110 yards on 12 receptions.
