ATHENS - Georgia Bullogs OL Jamaree Salyer announce his intent to return to Kirby Smart’s program for his final season of eligibility on Monday.
Salyer, a former five-star prospect from Pace Academy in Atlanta, is a key piece to the Bulldogs’ puzzle heading into a 2021 season that starts off hot with a matchup against ACC Champions Clemson in Charlotte.
"First, I would like to give glory to God first for giving me the opportunity to go to school and play the sport that I love," Salyer said on social media. "Secondly, I would like to thank my family and friends for helping mold me into the man I am today. Lastly, I would like to thank Coach Smart and Coach Pittman for giving me the opportunity to come to Georgia. And Coach Luke for helping to continue to develop me as a player and a man on and off the field.I always dreamed of representing my state and my community at the highest possible level that I could. I don't see any stage higher or any light brighter for the G than on a grand stage playing for a National Championship. With that being said I will put my NFL dreams on hold and come back for unfinished business in 2021. God Bless you all and Go Dawgs!”
Salyer was a mainstay at tackle for the Bulldogs in 2020, but he slid inside to play guard during Georgia’s 24-21 come-from-behind win over No. 8 Cincinatty in the 2021 Peach Bowl in Atlanta.
The question remains who will start at left tackle in 2021 for the Bulldogs as there are a couple of options. Warren McClendon, who started at right tackle much of the year, Salyer, Xavier Truss, Broderick Jones and freshman Amarius Mims will all be in the mix for both left and right tackle this fall.
