As we’ve seen all year, the Georgia Bulldogs once again have one of the top kickers in college football.

That would be Peach Bowl star Jack Podlesny.

The third-year kicker is replacing a living legend in Rodrigo Blankenship, and he’s filled that void just fine in 2020. The Lou Groza semi-finalist is 10/13 on the season and made three field goals in today’s 24-21 win over Cincinnati. The final one of course, was the game winner from 53 yards out.

Everyone remembers or knows about Georgia legend Kevin Butler beating Clemson in 1984 with a 60-yard field goal. We’ve seen Billy Bennett hit a game-winner against Alabama on the road in 2002. Rodrigo Blankenship hit game winners against Kentucky and Notre Dame.

It happens. Georgia kickers are as reliable as it gets across college football, and now you can add Podlesny to the long list of Georgia kickers who have come through in the clutch.

The Bulldogs needed Podlesny in a big way on Friday afternoon as they needed each and every field goal in order to secure the win. Podlesny connected on a 37-yard field goal with 3:46 left in the first half to give the Bulldogs a 10-7 lead.

Podlesny later nailed a 32-yard field goal with 6:43 left in the game that cut Cincinnati’s lead to just two. Then with the game on the line, Georgia’s clutch kicker connected on the game-winning 53-yard field goal that left just three seconds on the clock.

Former Bulldog kicker Rodrigo Blankenship gave Podlesny a shout-out via Twitter after the game.

The kicker spot was a big question mark coming into the season, but it won’t be a question mark next fall. Georgia might need Podlesny in 2021 if they want to win a national championship, and he’s already proved he can kick in clutch moments
