ATHENS - Georgia’s starting quarterback spot seems very unsettled, according to UGA caoch Kirby Smart.
The Bulldogs, who are entering the stretch run of the season, are faced with an injured starting quarterback and inaccurate throws from both quarterback who played in the loss to Florida over the weekend.
Smart said he was not sure if Stetson Bennett would be healthy enough to play Saturday, and added that he might not start at Missouri even if he can play.
“It is a great question,” he told reporters Monday.
Bennett suffered a AC sprain shoulder injury against Florida while throwing a touchdown. He got a shot from UGA’s medical staff and retuned to play, but was replaced in the second half by D’Wan Mathis. The two quarterback combined to complete only nine passes the entire game.
“The quarterbacks were a little off. I don’t know what to say,” UGA WR Kearis Jackson said. “It is something we have to work on.”
Smart said Mathis, JT Daniels and freshman Carson Beck are all competing for the starting job early this week. He was unclear on if Bennett would be able to practice early this week.
“I am confident with whoever they put back there,” Jackson said.
