Legge's Thoughts: Jimbo and the Aggies Arrive at Media Days
ATLANTA – Here's a look at Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies heading into the 2018 season.
Last season: 7-6, (4-4 SEC)

Most memorable Georgia win: 1980 – Herschel Walker and the eventual national champs blast the Aggies 42-0 in Athens.
Most painful Georgia loss: 1950 – Not that memorable really, but the 5-2-3 A&M Aggies blew out the 6-2-3 Bulldogs 40-20 in the President's Cup Bowl in College Park, Md.
Legge’s Take: Jimbo Fisher has turned around recruiting for the Aggies - can he put the program on the same path?
No doubt, everyone was tired of Kevin Sumlin - it just wasn’t working, and the folks in College Station made the move to a new head coach. Now that Fisher has arrived in Aggieland with a giant new contract and expectations of doing for the Aggies what he did for Florida State, the only question is if he can… and how fast.
A&M has more resources in terms of money, facilities and arguably prospects (Texas vs. Florida is a recruiter’s paradise either way). But the air had gone out of the tires in Tallahassee. Fisher didn’t want to be there, and the Noles had grown tired of his looking around. It is now up to Fisher to get the Aggies to the SEC Championship Game and beyond.
Not getting past Auburn, LSU and Alabama doesn’t see like an option for Fisher. But as everyone in that division has seen - getting to Atlanta is easier planned out than done. Texas A&M won’t be ready to cause a commotion this fall, and it might not be ready to do so in 2019. But by 2020, Fisher will have had plenty of time to show that, even if he can’t guide the Aggies to Atlanta, that he’s able to hold his own in the SEC West.
Time will tell.
Keep in mind that A&M has had one ten-win season this century (2012). This won’t be an easy job for Fisher, but maybe the timing is right and the change of scenery is all everyone needed.
