D'Wan Mathis Poised to Start for the Georgia Bulldogs
FAYETTEVILLE - D’Wan Mathis is poised to start for the Georgia Bulldogs in thier season opener at Arkansas.
Mathis seemed like an afterthought earlier this year when the Bulldogs seemed ready to start either Jamie Newman or JT Daniels. But Newman transferred and Daniels has been hobbled with his recovery from an ACL injury he suffered a year ago at USC.
In pre-game warmups Mathis practiced with the No. 1 offense as Georgia got ready to face the Razorbacks as a 28-point favorite here in Fayetteville. The Bulldogs have four QBs listed in the depth chart as possible starters for the game.
It appears, however, that former walkon Stetson Bennett could be the second quarterback into the game. Bennett was taking snaps with the No. 2 offense during pre-game warmups. All four quarterbacks travelled for the game, and all four are dressed out.
