The Georgia Bulldogs have landed four-star defensive lineman Marlin Dean‍.

Again.

De-commitments are way too common in today’s world of recruiting, and after de-committing from Georgia on July 18, the IMG Academy (FL) star had a change of heart and has now re-committed to the Bulldogs.

The 6-foot-6 275-pound lineman chose Georgia for a second time over Auburn, Florida State, Nebraska, Arkansas, among others.

So, what are the Bulldogs getting in Dean?

Once again, the three-star from Elberton will bring good size and potential to Athens down the road. Dean has good length and the frame to continue adding more muscle. He plays on the offensive line for Elbert County but will likely play along the defensive line at IMG Academy and again at Georgia.

He does his job consistently as a tackle, showing good footwork and raw power in his upper body. If he can continue to add weight while working on his burst and explosion, Dean has the potential to be a force in the middle of Georgia’s defensive line.

Right now, he’s all potential. It’s clear the Georgia staff likes his game and what he brings to the table, and sources say they were surprised and disappointed that he decided to open up his recruitment over the summer. The Bulldogs liked him enough to take his initial commitment in March and never gave up on him while he was uncommitted. Georgia continued to push for Dean and have now landed his commitment for a 2nd time.

So, where do the Bulldogs go from here?

Well, they need to keep recruiting Marlin Dean. He’s de-committed once before and there’s always a chance he could change his mind again. The Bulldogs will have to stay on him and continue to recruit him the rest of the way.

The Bulldogs have 4-star edge defender Elijah Jeudy‍ on the commitment list as well as defensive tackle Jonathan Jefferson‍. With Dean back in the fold, the Bulldogs now have three verbal commitments on the defensive line with room for at least one more.

The big prize is 5-star defensive tackle Maason Smith‍. The elite lineman from Louisiana took an unofficial visit to Georgia in late July but sources say it will still be hard to pull him away from LSU. If he decides to take an official visit to Georgia down the road then things could start to get interesting. Right now, Dawg Post expects him to sign with LSU.

The Bulldogs now have 15 commitments in the 2021 class with 7-8 more spots left.

Dean is ranked as the No.28 defensive tackle prospect in the 2021 class.
