Elite 2022 DB Marquis Groves-Killebrew Has Committed to Georgia
The Bulldogs continue to roll on the recruiting trail, picking up their first commitment in the 2022 class with Grayson (GA) defensive back, Marquis Killebrew.
The 6-foot-0 180-pounder chose the Bulldogs over Michigan, Oregon, Ohio State, Florida, Auburn, Texas and Oklahoma.
One of the top 2022 prospects in the country, Groves-Killebrew has been on the recruiting scene for a while now due to his solid frame and athletic ability at an early age. So, what are the Bulldogs getting in Groves-Killebrew?
They’re getting an instinctual boundary cornerback with great feet. He’s a fluid athlete who knows how to turn his hips and run with a receiver. He plays the sideline well and uses it to his advantage on the outside.
The four-star prospect has some length to him, which gives him the ability to cover bigger receivers. He breaks on the ball well on short passes and screens, and knows how to tackle when he meets the ball carrier. While his length and instincts stand out early on, Groves-Killebrew also has enough acceleration to stay with speedy receivers down the field. He rarely gets beat deep and shows good ball skills when given a chance to make a play.
Groves-Killebrew and the Rams played a tough schedule in 2019, going up against some of the state’s top offenses. The sophomore more than held his own all year, an impressive feat for anyone, much less a sophomore who was asked to man up against some of the state’s top players.
Overall, this is an excellent pickup for the Bulldogs and a big first commitment in the 2022 class. One of the state’s top overall prospects, Groves-Killebrew has become close friends with many elite prospects across the South during his recruitment. That will matter in the future as well.
