Kirby Takes Scott Cochran from Nick Saban, Alabama

ATHENS - Kirby Smart has taken Scott Cochran from Nick Saban.

The new broke Monday afternoon that longtime Alabama strength and conditioning coaching Scott Cochran is leaving Tuscaloosa for UGA. Cochran is slated to be an on-field assistant for the Bulldogs. 

The move, which was reported by the Tuscaloosa News, is surprising now. But at the start of Kirby’s UGA, the Bulldogs’ head coach tried unsuccessfully to take Cochran with him at the time. Insiders at the time said that Cochran wanted to stay at Alabama for the time being, but that a move in the future was not out of the question.

That move has now been made, and just in time for the Bulldogs and Tide to meet this September in Tuscaloosa.
