5-Star Broderick Jones Solidifies UGA's No. 1 Class
LITHONIA - For the third year in a row, UGA will bring home one of the top two recruiting classes in the nation.
The Bulldogs solidified their standing when they pulled in one of the top players in the country Wednesday. 5-star Lithonia OL Broderick Jones flirted with Auburn, but picked the Bulldogs once and for all, and gave Georgia its potential left tackle of the future.
“I’m a Georgia Boy. I wanted to stay close to home. That was one of the biggest factors,” Jones said after picking UGA.
The Bulldogs came into Signing Day with the consensus No. 1 class in the country. Jones’ decision solidified a top-two finish. But Alabama still looms and could leap the Bulldogs for the No. 1 spot if the Tide signs a player who is very highly ranked. 4-star DL McKinnley Jackson picked Texas A&M Alabama Wednesday morning.
Still, Jones’ addition to the Dawgs means that Georgia is the only school in college football to sign a consensus top two class in each of the last three years. Both the Bulldogs and Tide missed out on the College Football Playoff in 2019, but are considered favorites to return to the CFP in 2020.
Jones is considered the consensus No. 11 overall player in the country.
“Jones has an elite frame. He has the size that coaches drool over,” Dawg Post recruiting analyst Matt DeBary said. “He already looks like an NFL prospect. He will certainly get a look at one of the open tackle spots as soon as he gets on campus.”
