BREAKING: 5-star QB Brock Vandagriff Commits to Georgia: What It Means

January 18, 2020

The Georgia Bulldogs have landed another 5-star QB in 2021 gunslinger Brock Vandagriff‍. The 6-foot-3 200-pounder is a former Oklahoma commit and ranked as the No.1 overall pro-style quarterback prospect in the country.

So what will Vandagriff bring to Athens?

Elite arm talent.

Vandagriff might not put up numbers like Trevor Lawrence and Jake Fromm did, but his arm talent is right there with them. He didn’t have a great supporting staff to throw to at Prince Avenue Christian, but it’s hard to ignore the arm strength and accuracy.

The son of a coach, Vandagriff is very polished and technically sound. He plays the position the right way and doesn’t rely just on his arm talent to win games. He can read defenses, he gets the ball out quick, he displays great footwork, and will come to Athens ready to compete.

He also brings the intangibles. He’s got the leadership qualities and has that “X” factor to his game. He plays with confidence and knows he can make just about every throw on the field.

He might be asked to do everything now for Prince Avenue, but he’ll have plenty of weapons with him in Athens. With new assistant coach Todd Monked on staff, look for Vandagriff to show off his arm early and often once he makes it onto the field.

He doesn’t have the biggest arm we’ve ever seen, but it’s one of the strongest in the 2021 class. He doesn’t run a ton, but he’s athletic enough to escape the pocket and scramble for yards when he needs too. He’s a pass-first quarterback, but he’s not a statue in the pocket.

Overall, this is a huge get for the future of Georgia’s offense. He can win games with his arm, he’s got elite arm talent, he’s accurate and he’s a winner. He’s a 5-star prospect for a reason and a guy that Georgia fans should be excited about.

He was Lincoln Riley’s first option at QB at Oklahoma, and that says all you need to know about Vandagriff’s arm talent and overall potential at the next level.

Vandagriff is ranked as the No.1 pro-style quarterback and the No. 8 overall prospect in the 2021 class.
