Elite 2022 OL Talks UGA Visit and Relationship With Sam Pittman
If you don’t know the name Addison Nichols, now is the time to learn it.
The 2022 class might be the deepest in Georgia since 2018, and the Greater Atlanta Christian (GA) tackle is one reason why.
The 6-foot-5 290-pounder was back in Athens last weekend and spoke with Dawg Post about his visit.
“My favorite part of the visit was to be able to see the players and be on the field while watching them warm up,” Nichols said. “I spent probably 5-10 minutes with head coach Kirby Smart and about probably 30 minutes with offensive line coach Sam Pittman.”
One of the nation’s top recruiters, Sam Pittman knows talent when he sees it. Pittman has already established a relationship with the outstanding sophomore.
“I love coach Pittman’s knowledge,” Nichols said. “He reminds me of my o-line coach. He just knows what he’s doing. He knows how to teach it to you, and he knows when to mess around and when it’s time to buckle down and get serious. As for coach Smart, I love his love for his players. He just seems so connected with them and knows exactly how to get each one of them to their desired and ultimate potential.”
“I think I have a pretty good relationship with them (Georgia),” Nichols said. “I’ve been to the past two games and it’s been great to see them although the weather could have been better last weekend. They still buckled down and got done what needed to be done. But yes I feel like we have a strong relationship and it’s always great to go and see them.”
Just a sophomore, Nichols holds over 17 D1 offers including Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, Duke, Georgia Tech, among others. He has the chance to be the top-ranked offensive line prospect in the state and push for 5-star status in the 2022 class.
As a prospect, Nichols already has great size and strength to go along with his athleticism. He’s got good length and still has a few years to develop and perfect his craft at the tackle position.
Another 2022 prospect in town last weekend was Cherokee (GA) QB AJ Swann. The 6-foot-1 195-pounder is one of the top up-and-coming quarterback prospects in the state of Georgia.
“My favorite part of the visit definitely had to have been the atmosphere,” Swann told Dawg Post. “Even though it was cold and raining hard the fans were still cheering as if it was 90° and sunny which showed how much Georgia Football means to them. UGA is special because they treat not only the recruits but everyone with respect. They make you feel special and try to make you feel like part of the team. I really enjoyed my visit to Athens and would definitely love to come back!”
