UGA-ND Draws Big Audience
ATHENS - All of the numbers aren’t in yet, but Georgia’s win over Notre Dame was a big hit for CBS.
According to the network, UGA-ND pulled a 6.2 overnight rating - making it the biggest college football game of the season. That number should translate into “about” ten million viewers give or take a few hundred thousand when the final numbers come in later this week.
Last year a 6.2 rating was good enough for fourth-best the entire 2018 regular season - behind the SEC Championship (10.1 - 17.5M viewers), Michigan-Ohio State (7.5 - 13.2 M viewers), and LSU-Alabama (6.6 - 11.5M viewers).
CBS said that the game was the highest-rated college football game on CBS in the month of September in six years. The Atlanta area pulled in a 25.9 rating - behind only Birmingham’s 26.8… apparently the Tide was hate watching the Dawgs.
