Georgia got its first commitment of the 2021 cycle on Thursday from Belton-Honea Path (BHP) DB Bralyn Oliver, who celebrated his birthday by announcing the news.

He announced his decision on Twitter. Coaches at BHP confirmed the news to Dawg Post. Oliver, who is 6-2, 190, will kickoff his 2019 football season Thursday night with a scrimmage against Chapin. Coaches at BHP confirmed Oliver’s commitment to UGA, as the Bulldogs’ staff is not permitted to publicly comment on prospective student athletes.

Oliver’s recruiting started with offers from Appalachian State and Georgia Southern, but escalated soon thereafter to the likes of West Virginia and Louisville. Georgia offered in the early summer. Oliver also had an offer from Tennessee and Colorado, where former UGA defensive coordinator Mel Tucker is now head coach.

According to the Anderson Independent-Mail, Oliver finished last season with 31 tackles, five pass deflections and an interception.

“I knew at 10-and-under football that he was going to be successful,” BHP coach Russell Blackston told the outlet. “I watched him from youth through middle school, and I feel like there’s unfinished business for Bralyn.”
