ATHENS - Georgia will enter the year as the No. 3 team in the country.
The AP Poll, the longest-running poll in college football, released its first poll Monday at noon, and the Bulldogs checked in at No. 3 behind No. 1 Clemson and No. 2 Alabama.
This is the first time in school history the Bulldogs have started the season as at top-five team (2018 - No. 3; 2013 - No. 5; 2008 - No. 1; No. 3 - 2004; No. 2 1942). UGA has finished with a top-five ranking 11 times in school history.
Meanwhile, UGA will have a slew of pre-season ranked schools to take on in the regular season. No. 8 Florida, No. 9 Notre Dame, No. 12 Texas A&M and No. 16 Auburn dot UGA’s schedule.
