BREAKING: Dan Lanning Named UGA Defensive Coordinator

ATHENS - Dan Lanning will take over the role of defensive coordinator at UGA this fall. 

He will be aided by Glenn Schumann, who UGA lists as co-defensive coordinator. Dawg Post gathered this information from a Freedom of Information request that was released Friday afternoon. 

In other information also provided:

James Coley is listed as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Coley will make $950,000 in 2019. Coley made $850,000 in 2018. 

Sam Pittman is listed as assistant head coach and offensive line coach. Pittman will make $900,000 in 2019. Pittman made $825,000 in 2018. 

Dell McGee is listed as run game coordinator and running backs coach. McGee will make $650,000 in 2019. McGee made $550,000 in 2018. 

Cortez Hankton is listed as run game coordinator and wide receivers coach. Hankton will make $550,000 in 2019. Hankton made $375,000 in 2018.

Todd Hartley is listed as tight ends coach. Hartley will make $300,000 in 2019. Hartley’s salary at Miami was not disclosed because it is a private instatution. Hartley’s salary at Miami was not disclosed because it is a private institution and not subject to FOI laws.

Dan Lanning is listed as defensive coordinator and outside linebackers coach. Lanning will make $750,000 in 2019. Lanning made $325,000 in 2018.

Glenn Schumann is listed as co-defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach. Schumann will make $550,000 in 2019. Schumann made $325,000 in 2018.

Charlton Warren is listed as defensive backs coach. Warren will make $600,000 in 2019. Warren made $201,500 in 2018 at Florida accodring to USA Today.

Tray Scott is listed as defensive line coach. Scott will make $470,000 in 2019. Scott made $420,000 in 2018.

Scott Fountain is listed as special teams coordinator. Fountain will make $325,000 in 2019. Fountain made $300,000 in 2018.

The Bulldogs were the sixth-highest paid assistant staff in the country in 2018. But UGA’s $5,621,500 in salaries for assistants in 2019 is down compared to 2018. New numbers are not readily available for all staffs around the country, but 2019 UGA will likely check in around No. 10 or lower in 2019. That fall in total salary is due to the departure of Mel Tucker ($1,500,000) and Jim Chaney ($950,000).
