Top NBA Draft Prospect to Pick Between UGA and Others
ATHENS - The No. 1 overall prospect for the 2020 NBA Draft will decide his college destination, and Georgia is considered the front runner.
5-star Anthony Edwards, a guard from Holy Spirit Prep in Atlanta, will announce his college of choice Monday morning at 9 AM EST according to his coach Tysor Anderson. Edwards is expected to pick between Kentucky, Florida State and the Bulldogs.
Just before New Year’s Day, Edwards had a top five that included Kansas and North Carolina. But those two blue bloods didn’t make the final top three. Sources say the Bulldogs have taken the lead of late - pushing in front of Florida State. But the Seminoles will host the 5-star talent this weekend in Tallahassee.
Edwards came into the school year as a junior, but reclassified from the class of 2020 to the class of 2019 in November. That move allows him to sign with a college this spring, and play one year of collegiate basketball before leaving for the NBA.
That’s the plan according to a slew of basketball insiders - Edwards will play a year of college, and then take off to the NBA.
