That was a fun way to start the season. I thought we played hard and really played well for a new team in a new system. This is going to be a fun brand of basketball to watch.

I did see some nerves, and we rushed things at times, but it's the first game. Overall, I was impressed.

I went to the women's game and the men's game last night. We really did start almost completely over with the women's program. There were only 2 returning players from last year's team. Ojenuwa who didn't play last night that I am aware of and Aubrey Beckham who only played 6 games last season due to injury. It's hard to tell what we have against last night's opponent, but the lady Dawgs did exactly what you are supposed to do against an inferior team. They dominated. I saw lots of hustle and defense. Coach Guzzardo(?) subbed early and often.

Understanding the level of competition, I still really liked the intensity on defense and how we helped and recovered. We played 12, but 10 got substantial minutes without a lot of falloff with the substitutes. Nya Smith looked really smooth on offense, and I liked Adebanj's game. Adebanj was more athletic than I anticipated, as she was able to go out on the floor and guard effectively at 6'3". Brown reminds me of Trinity Turner in her build and game. Another surprise for me was Sibley who played a really good floor game. I think that Howard can compete in the SEC for sure. My biggest concern is that we don't have an eraser in the middle, which is needed due to us extending the defense to put pressure on opponents. Overall, great start for the Lady Dawgs.
