Josh Brooks just confirmed my worst fears. He gets rid of one coach and hires someone in 24 hours. That tells me he just took the cheap route and he is not going to spend big money for a Women's basketball coach. One Group of five coach for another. Women's basketball at UGA is a thing of the past. The next move UGA should make is to find a very good Athletic Director. If this was football, Josh Brooks would be ran out of town tonight. He could have hired 100 coaches with the same credentials. There was no rush to hire someone that fast, because next season is going to be another losing season. Now we just lost the 27, 28 classes in the state of Georgia. Winning 29 games in a group of five league is like winning maybe 4 games in the SEC. Beating Texas A and M was not a great feat. I am ready to throw in the towel until Josh Brooks is gone and we hire an AD who knows what he is doing.
Josh Brooks isn't going anywhere anytime soon. We have one of the best football programs in the country that has won 3 out of the last 4 SEC championships, won 2 national championships in the past 5 seasons, and is consistently in the CFP.
Our baseball program is on the rise. They are currently alone in first place in the SEC and ranked in the top 5 teams in the country. It doesn't look like this program is going away anytime soon.
Our men's basketball team is relevant again. We have three 20 wins seasons in a row and heave made the NCAA tournament 2 seasons in a row. If they can manage another 20 win season next season and make the NCAA tournament again, they will have done something that has never been done at UGA.
Women's track and field just won the indoor national championship. Our softball team is currently ranked #11 in the country. Our women's soccer team finished third in the SEC this past season. The equestrian team just won their 8th national title this past season. Our gymnastics team will compete for a national title in 2 weeks for the first time since 2019. Even our women's basketball team made a lot of progress this season with a young team and made the NCAAs. Josh saw we needed a change and made it. I doubt he just decided there was a problem Friday night. I have to believe he had done some homework. Now we have a chance to maintain our young roster.
One can argue that every program we have is in good shape. Let's let this play out before we go running off a very successful AD. I think the biggest problem UGA has is we have big money donars for football, but probably not enough in the other sports to truly be elite.
