Kara Braxton the last number player out of high school to sign with UGA died in a car accident today. She also had a twin sister Kim who also signed with UGA. Kara was one of five number one players to play for Andy Landers and the last one and she was the number one player in the class of 2002. Jessica Pierce, Ebony Felder was also a member of that great class that was in the top three according to which site you viewed. Kara was also a first round pick in the WNBA draft. A true Ladydawg, rest in peace Kara.

Oh no, that's so sad. I remember watching her freshman and sophomore year in the Steg when we had her and Christi Thomas in the post. She was a great player. RIP

My original post, I said that Kara was one of five number one recruits who signed with UGA, I forgot about Lakeisha Frett. The others were Janet Harris in 81, Katrina McClain 82, Traci Waites 84, Lakeisha Frett 94, Keisha Brown 96 and Kara Braxton 2002. If you want to add junior college, Saudia Roundtree was up there in high school but she had to go the JC route. She would lead UGA to back to back final fours, a National Championship game and she was the National Player of the year.
