She comes out with Enjulina at point guard, Trinity at 2 guard, Dani at small forward and Rylie at power forward. She just threw Dani out of the offense and Rylie has to help guard Essence Cody. This is the dumbest coaching job I have ever seen. You are on a three game winning streak in the SEC and you sabotage your own team. Somebody tell me something, because I have never seen this. You didn't do this against South Carolina or LSU, so why are we doing this now. Alabama has 31 points at halftime, that is normal, but UGA has 28 points which is not normal and Dani Carnegie for the first time is in foul trouble. It is as if Coach Abe is throwing the game away.

This game was lost with the starting lineup. I have seen some things these last three games that says that we will have an exodus of players to the transfer portal after the last game. I have said this before, that Coach Abe is a Group of Five Coach and not an SEC coach. This was truly one of the worst coaching games I have ever seen in my life. She put Carnegie in a bad spot right with the starting lineup. There are some things I want to say but I will comment after the season about this. Don't be shocked if this team goes into a funk the rest of the season. There is something going on in the locker room that might come out.

We could not ring the basket in the 2nd and 4th quarters. Alabama played incredible defense. Especially after the first quarter. They defended Dani extremely well. The refs spent a lot of time talking to the Alabama coach. Enjulina is our best defender. I have no problem seeing her play against a team that starts three guards. I would like to see better movement of our players on offense. Also more screening for each other. But better shooting would take care of just about all of our problems.

Alabama is not South Carolina or LSU, Coach Abe put Enjulina Gonzalez in the starting lineup and that told me that Coach Abe is not trying to win this game. Enjulina and Trinity had the ball in their hands the entire first half. This is a mediocre team without Dani Carnegie. By having Trinity Turner, Rylie Theurakauf and Enjulina forced Dani Carnegie to play forward. Dani Carnegie is a guard. What Coach trys to match up with a team by going smaller. I can't get the look out of my mind that Coach Abe gave Dani Carnegie at halftime of the Arkansas when they where walking off the floor to the locker room. She has been running plays away from Carnegie to the other side of the floor. If she doesn't want Carnegie to score, put her on the bench. This team is team fixing to go down hill in a hurry. Mock my words, I have seen this before. A lot of folks will be saying what happened to the team when they played Alabama. I saw it before Alabama.

Dani sat out most of the first half with two fouls.

Exactly, because she got put into a position at forward to help out against Cody. What Coach put their best player on defense to get fouls. If anything, you want Dani away from getting foul trouble. Dani has been leading us in scoring and she has been getting quite a few assists. You want Dani burning up her energy on offense. It showed that this team is not as good as we think when Dani was on the bench. You have an All American player in Dani and you have a below average team without her. Coach Abe put the ball in Enjulina hands in the first half and Dani got just a couple of shots, what Coach does that. It made it very easy to guard Dani and the rest of team was not going to score 40 points in the first half. That is what UGA had been averaging all season with the ball in Dani's hands. Geno Auriemo doesn't do that, Kim Mulkey doesn't do it and Dawn Staley definitely doesn't. I have seen coaches do that and sink the team and never get that momentum back.

Dani has been guarding the best player on most teams all year long. But not fouling very much. She had a bad game. She looked weak to me. Like she was getting over the flu? She got the ball in the same kind of locations that she has been touching the ball all year. They just defended her extremely well. We got enough good looks at the basket. We just could not make them in the 2nd and 4th quarter. I guess we should go hire one of those three great coaches you mentioned? I would be fine with that.

I don't mind taking heat, you have to ask yourself is UGA a Gold team or Fools Gold. If you take away Dani Carnegie, how good will this team be. Why would I put my best scorer who is 5'8 at a forward position against 6 foot or better post players to say I am trying to win. Again, I will say this that the SEC is not Group of 5. I am saying that 14 and 0 against Group of 5 make you Fools Gold. We are 4 and 4 in the SEC and that is the only record that matters to me. If you can't win the SEC, then you need to change things. We did not hire Coach Abe for Group of 5 and that is what we have.
South Carolina paid Dawn Staley a lot of money to build their program and she has. Three National Championships and a bunch of SEC titles. LSU paid Kim Mulkey a bunch of money to leave Baylor and build their program back to elite and she has. A National Championship in her third year and they are doing great again this year. Texas paid Vic Schaefer a bunch of money to leave Mississippi State and build their program back to elite and he has. Kentucky has paid Kenny Brooks to leave Va Tech and rebuild their program and he has. Vanderbilt went and got Shea Ralph from off of UCONN staff to build their program and she has. All those coaches are power 4 coaches and not Group of 5. If we want to see UGA compete again at the highest level, we are going to have to spend money and go get a winner. UGA can do it, remember Mark Richt never won the National Championship at UGA and they fired him after a 10 and 3 season to hire Kirby Smart and the rest is history.
I checked back on the 2000 team, the last time we won the SEC regular season, we tied Tennessee but beat them in the head to head. We had 6 teams in the NCAA, which was half of the conference. We were a regular to the NCAA, in fact we got into the tournament with 16 wins because back in those days we didn't play 14 group of 5 games. Things are a lot tougher to get in this time and the odds are against UGA. Because the big ten is a solid conference, the big twelve is solid and the ACC might be the weakest. Then you all those Group of 5 conference champions that will get automatic bids. After this year, when Josh Brooks evaluate this team performance, will he evaluate them on the whole season or the SEC. Because in my opinion, we are still mediocre. We need a coach who doesn't make excuses, we need one who can recruit good players and coach them. There needs to be a big change in our program just like the football program made.
