Here we go again with another off-season. Here's the roster as it stands now. I will update if we have any movement-

I would love for a graduate senior point guard in the transfer portal to help Trinity and Aubrey next year like Asia Avinger did this year. We will need that type of leadership for a young team. Someone to help the young players learn how to keep pushing forward when things get tough. There will be some available for sure. I believe that coach Abe will be looking.

You have a young team, but they have experienced players. Trinity and Mia started the entire year. Savannah has played and been apart of three seasons. Miyah has played and been apart of 2 seasons. Fatima has played and been apart of three seasons and she played her best basketball this year. Nyah Leveretter has played a lot for Kentucky and she gives you another experienced player. Now you are bringing in a top recruiting class. The only position that I would want one experienced player would be the point guard for one year and that is because we don't know where Aubrey Beckham is with her rehabilitation after the torn ACL. You want Trinity to be able to play some point guard but also some off guard. And you never know when you might have some players go down with an injury. Another point guard would put our roster at 13.
Next year Nyah Leveretter is your only senior and that would allow you to probably sign maybe 2 or 3 players. You always want to have room for at least one transfer portal player. You never know if someone might want to come back to the state that can really play. I remember Patchis Roberts had went to Syracuse if I am thinking right, and she wanted to come back home. She was a very good player for UGA. The state has good players all over the nation. I wouldn't sign four transfer portal players, just an additional player would be enough.

Yes, she quit the team. I'm sure it's because she rarely played anymore.

According to her Instagram post, Harissoum Coulibaly has decommited and reopened her recruitment.

We currently have three open scholarships. Transfer portal opens March 25th.

No, Dawg44, I haven't heard anything on this. The Transfer Portal opens next Tuesday. UGA will be attractive because of the young talent that we have.

No inside info, but I will be nervous on the 25th. I hope this isn't a bad sign.

Davis twins set to enter the portal tomorrow.

The Twins want to play together and I thought that they would transfer. I think that they know that they will have to transfer to a smaller school that will be like a Mercer University. I wish them well. This will open the door for a couple of transfers who are looking to play in the SEC.

This makes me sad, but they always played hard when they played. I wish them the best.

This is unfortunately understandable, they looked a bit overwhelmed this season and atheletically over matched. More than was expected, really hope they find a place where they can thrive and flourish.

Down to a roster of 9, but there are plenty of players already in the portal with more to come as teams get eliminated from the tournaments and players begin committing, which causes more transfers.

I'm a little surprised about this one-

Fatima was starting to play her best basketball. I think she has made a terrible mistake but that is the negative part of the transfer portal. She got better because the UGA staff worked with her every day to get better. A lot of these transfers might not get picked up. There is already a lot of good players in the portal. I just hope that UGA can land some.

Georgia is ok there, with Craft and Yarnevich coming in and Coombs. Coach Abe knows she needs to go in hard in the portal for guards that can compete at an high level in the Sec.

Sorry. I disagree. We aren't solid in any aspect. When players are getting north of 1 mil in nil we can't compete like that. Also you can't guarantee any signee will make an immediate impact. Look at Verse. She redshirted and didn't play a single game her first year. It took Fatima over a year to make any kind of progress. Not saying it can't happen. But you can't just expect them to make that leap in year one.

To be fair, Verse redshirted because of injury.

Believe me. I want to be wrong. But I was around when we lost 4 or 5 post players to injuries or other circumstances in the same off season before the season started. We need more than Mia and the two freshman coming in for post depth. If Henderson doesn't play we have Trinity at point and that's it with experience.

I agree that we need at least one post player from the portal. I would probably say two.

Henderson has been participating in work outs with the team, so I hope that's a good sign for her recovery.

If we hit the transfer portal hard, I think we can make up for what we lost. Bringing in 8-10 new players into the system will be hard for the staff, but I think they have a very solid core in place if the remaining players return.

Look at the men's team this year. I think they had three scholarship returnees (all freshmen). They added true freshmen and transfers and were able to make the tournament.

The four Freshmen that we have coming in are talented. Zhen Craft is a great defensive player who can rebound, she can put the ball on the floor and shoot within the perimeter. Jocelyn Faison is all around with 3 point shooting. She also can guard from the guard position and the forwards. Meghan Yarnevich can score and rebound and Aubrey Beckham when she gets healthy will be an excellent point guard. She and Trinity with Jocelyn will be a super trio for three years. These young ladies will play right away like Trinity and Mia did. Coach Abe has a great eye for talent. The thing that the Twins needed was to handle the basketball. It was a weakness for them because they played mainly forward in high school. If they were better ball handlers, I don't think they would have transferred. Fatima will be a big loss because she gave Mia a chance to be a real power forward. Now we need someone else with that size to come in and be an enforcer. If Trinity and Mia stay healthy, we will just need to fill the other spots.

I meant Woolfolk not Coombs in my previous post, i don't know why I got her name mixed with the former guard.

Carnegie from GT and McMiller from Rutgers are the big entires from today so far. I think we may have recruited McMiller, but we didn't make her top 10. Carnegie transferring is a surprise to me, and it is a big loss for GT.

An interesting name entered from Arkansas - Vera Ojenuwa, 6-4, F, So. (6.8 ppg, 6.2 rpg). I believe we recruited her before she signed with Arkansas.

Wow, Danielle Carnegie is in the portal. Coach Abe needs to go after her this time because we made a big mistake the first time not recruiting her. She is that guard that we need. She can shoot the three ball as good as anyone and she can get to the rim. She fills both spots that Avinger and Flournoy leaves and she is bigger. She needs to have the ball in her hands, that would help Trinity grow as well. Danielle needs to come to UGA.
We did recruit Ojenuwa and believe it or not, Coach Abe thought she had her. She would be a big addition to UGA. I saw her and Fatima go at each other the first game. I said it then and I will say it again, there might have been some bad blood. Now that Fatima is gone, Ojenuwa might want to come to UGA.

I'll say this about Fatima. I never saw her run fast in a game. You have to run fast and play hard and not be scared to be a great player. I wish her nothing but the best.

The initial 2025-2026 roster is up in the site. No Leveretter, so for now, I am going to assume she has decided to move on from the team. If that's true, I wish her the best. She's had such tough luck with injuries.

We are down to a core four returning for next season with a class of four freshmen entering the program. Plenty of room to pick up transfers. I would love to see some junior and senior transfers to help balance the classes, but talent regardless of class is probably more important.

I agree Caejal44, all of a sudden our roster has been depleted. Evans, Fatima Diakhate, Indya, Summer and Leveretter with eligibility are all gone. I just hope that we have some NIL to help us out with some of these very good transfer players.

Coach needs to improve her portal performance from last year. Leveretter and Makalo who both averaged a combined maybe 6 points together were the only gets. No excuses, that can't happen this year

We have a lot more money to work with this year. At least that is my understanding.

Dawg44 I am happy to hear that. I believe what you are saying because Kirby Smart is meeting all the recruits that Coach Abe brings in for visits. Why is Kirby helping, because he met his wife Mary Beth Lycett through UGA basketball. Mary Beth was a great champion of Georgia High School basketball. She was Miss Georgia Basketball her senior year. She was a member of the last SEC Championship Teams of UGA. Kirby and Mary Beth are truly UGA.
