I typically don't post on here, but having been an avid UGA WBB fan for the past 25 years, I felt that I needed to comment on the dismal state of our program under Coach Abe, and also relay some very crucial information that I have recently learned.

First of all, let me say that I, along with the rest of Dawg Nation and everyone on this board, had such high hopes for Coach Abe being able to bring our program back to the Elite level, especially after her first season and her successful track record from UCF & Albany, but those hopes have very quickly been derailed, and our program is now in the worst position it's ever been since the late 70s.

I just spoke to a very good friend who is connected to the program, & based on what I heard, Josh Brooks must fire Abe NOW if we want to keep these current freshmen. If Coach Abe is kept for another year, we could likely lose all but Miyah Verse to the portal. Trinity, GONE. The Twins, GONE. Mia, GONE. Fatima, GONE (even though she's not a freshmen). These freshmen all love UGA & would absolutely consider staying with another coach, but they will not play for Coach Abe and her staff another year.

I know many of you have expressed confidence in Coach Abe and would like to give her a few more seasons, but after watching us have 2 consecutive -- not to mention embarrassing -- losing seasons for a program that was a foundation in building women's college basketball is absolutely inexcusable. And the primary reason for this is Coach Abe & her staff's abysmal recruiting from the transfer portal the past 2 seasons, not to mention they have completely lost control of the locker room.

Here are some other insider scoops that my friend told me:

1- Players have absolutely no respect for Abe. They talk back to her in practice, never listen to her in timeouts, or in-game when she makes a play call. In fact, it was told to my friend that Amiya left the team last week by ripping off her practice jersey & told Abe to "F Off" as she exited the gym. It was also alleged that Amiya was a toxic presence and picked several fights with other players, so having her removed definitely helped with how well we closed the season.

2- Rather than having a basic shootaround before games, Abe typically makes them run a full, physical practice, so that's why our team struggled with slow starts to most games.

3- Many people close to the WBB program -- Boosters, Fast Break Club, etc. -- have already expressed their unhappiness with the program to Josh, and he's already had an intense meeting with Coach Abe to discuss the feedback's he's been receiving. This meeting allegedly happened last month.

Auburn just fired Johnnie Harris, Mizzou's coach was forced to resign, and It's rumored that Ark & FL will also be looking for new head coaches this offseason as well, so JB needs to make a move now before they potentially hire someone on his list. Not to mention, the 2026 recruiting class with Kate, Bella, and Gabby is one of the most pivotal that I can remember, and many connected with the program do not expect us to land ANY of them, which is unacceptable. And TBH, with the product we've been putting on the floor the past 2 seasons, can you blame them for not choosing us?!?!

As to who could potentially replace Coach Abe, I have no clue how JB could approach this. He could go after a big fish -- my first call would be to Jeff Walz at Louisville b/c he has strong recruiting connections with FBS & FCA programs in GA -- or he could find an unknown like Tennessee did (time will tell if she actually works out, but in her first year, she signed the #2 recruiting class in the nation -- not bad).

Anyway, I felt this needed to be said on this board, so you are all aware of the absolute mess that our program is currently in.

GO LADY DAWGS!

Curious...have you attended any games this season or donated to the program.

I have been to 3 games this season (even though I live in south FL), have contributed to the team's NIL, & have been a Hartman Fund donor for the past 20 years. Anything else?!?

I have no inside information either way, so I cannot refute or support any claim. I don't necessarily see how posting this information helps the program, but I can see why it would feel important to post to other fans.

With that said, it's easy to see how this could be true, but it's just as easy to see how this could be a little exaggeration. If your source spoke with one parent about it, that parent's perception then speaks for the entire team.

It was a long season, and nobody likes losing as much as we did, but I never got the sense that the players quit playing hard.

I haven't been to a game since 1986, when Coach Abe was a freshman at UGA. I personally don't know Coach Abe, but I am going to defend her. These last 2 seasons is because Joni left us, but she has the right to do so. The times have changed a thousand ways since I was in college during the seventies. A player can transfer and play immediately. You also have NIL and you have to build relationships. When Joni left, Barker, Bowles and one guard who she signed went with her and Diana Collins was committed to UGA went to Ohio State. Regan Richardson went to Duke and the center went to Tennessee. That was the overwhelming majority of the team. Coach Abe was put in a position that no one wants to be in. The only reason that we had such a very good first year is that she brought 3 quality players with her. Diamond Battles, Britney Smith and Alisha Lewis, plus she got Audrey Warren, Flournoy and a forward from West Virginia. What was left at UGA was Javyn Nicholson, Malury Bates and Jordan Isaac. She signed Amiya Evans and Fatima Diakhate. So after the first year, she had to totally start rebuilding the team. How can you judge her when she has had to start building relationships with players in states that she never recruited. Don't forget, Coach Landers left Joni in great shape plus she was already recruiting the state for him. It was totally different for Coach Abe. Even Kirby Smart was left with a great team that Mark Richt had built. So you need to about what you are saying about Coach Abe. She is building this up and if you fire her, what reason will the players she has and just signed have reason to stay. Then you would be right back were you where. Coach Abe is the right person for the job.

There is no way players would play as hard as ours have been playing if they didn't like the coach or her staff. I think everything the original poster said is not true. He sounds like a plant from another school trying to hurt our program. Or either a totally uninformed person who fell for some total bull **** that someone told him. These freshmen have been developed very well. And the signing class on the way signed to play for this staff. Firing coach Abe now would throw everything away. We would have zero talent left. We are also going to have real NIL money to use moving forward for the first time. Other schools are very upset that we are about to be great again. Don't fall for total lies that are only intended to hurt our program and help the school that sent the poster to our board. You will see the truth very soon if all our players inter the portal. I don't see that happening.

Dawg44 you are absolutely right. I didn't think about who I was addressing, but I am upset with people who never post on our board and they come on here and attack our coach. You are 100 percent right and our program is on the way back. Thanks for having my back.

And if you watched the video of the after game celebration on Sunday, players were not acting like they didn't like the coaching staff.

The truth will come to the light soon enough. I was about to post what you said. Birds of a feather……

This team showed major improvement this year.

Even though the final decision is Brooks, I am sure he takes Andy advice into consideration. I suspect Andy was part of the hiring practice and he is a big fan of coach abe.

Keep the post coming of any news about my ladydawgs. After march is over, I am usually starving for information. Accurate information.

I am excited for next year..

We should know if there's some validity to these claims in a few weeks. I hope it's not true.

If we do have a mass exodus of existing players, we should keep in mind that we do have a big class coming in and may now have the resources to compete well in the transfer portal due to our revenue sharing. We've seen a mass exodus before, and we made the tournament the next season.

Also, since we don't have moderators on the board, can we refrain from spreading stories(even if factual) about specific players that cast a negative light on them? I do believe we should allow a little separation between private team issues and a public forum.

Speculating why an athlete may want to leave or is not playing well is one thing, but stating they are a toxic presence on the team isn't necessary. I could be too protective, but they already have to deal with a lot of pressure from outside sources, and I don't think broadcasting alleged bad choices benefits anyone. I wouldn't want my bad choices from my late teens and early twenties broadcasted and criticized, and I do feel they deserve some level of protection from online criticism.

I don't agree with this decision if it's true and i wouldn't be surprised if this is a bunch of bull, it didn't look like a team that hates their coach when they drenched her after the Tennessee win and if you didn't see the improvement from this team as opposed to a month ago then you need your eyes checked. The recruiting class coming in next year is top 20 in most every rankings. I wouldn't be surprised about the portal for any school in this country from South Carolina to San Jose St. That's more of the sign of the times in college basketball more than a reflection on Coach Abe. I want to see her next year in Athens coaching this program with a better and more healthier roster than she's had since her first year. I vouch for her, next year is my judgment point for Coach Abe. Not this year

This sounds like a lot of hearsay! I don't believe it- We saw a much-improved team at the end of the season and those players were engaged with Coach Abe. Personally, I'm looking forward to next year with Coach Abe and another top freshmen class!
