Not a surprise as South Carolina invests more in their women's basketball program, is coached by one of the best women basketball players of all-time (Dawn Staley), won 5 out of the last 7 SEC Championships, and won the 2017 National Championship.

UConn Women's Basketball has won 11 national championships since 1995. So do they generate a profit? No.

UConn spent $7.85M on women's basketball from 1 July 2018 - 30 June 2019. During this period they generated $4.50M in revenue. Thus a net loss of $3.35M. This after a "down" season where they earned a 35-3 record (16-0 in conference games) and made it to the Final Four for their twelfth consecutive season. They also avg. 8,870 fans per home game (ranked #4 in NCAA) that season.
