Here's some listening in honor of the the amazing Charlie Daniels. If you've never heard or seen Orange Blossom - dude can fiddle - look at his bow at the end.
Very sad news. He could play the fiddle like no other. RIP.
The Devil went down to Georgia and, if Christian means Christ-like, Charlie's gone down to meet him. He could fiddle, for sure, if that's the measure of a man. I was born and raised in Georgia and grew up being taught that R.E. Lee was a great man--but as already pointed out here, he refused the offer to fight against slavery and opted to fight with it. Similar to Charlie, Generalship was his fiddlin' and then he wandered to the wrong side.
You are the expert on Charlie Daniels now - or everyone - and where they should be? Who dropped off the eternal judge hat to you? He had a rough go of it early in his life, and changed his course. People who know him (yes I do know people who know him), will tell you he was one of the nicest, kindest, and unpretentious people a person will ever meet - not what most musicians/stars are today.

My view of Charlie has nothing to do with what he did or did not go through as a young boy--He had 70 years to overcome that! I'm not Charlie's or anyone else's judge--what has roiled form his mouth over the past 5 years is what judged him--in effect, he judged himself. Certainly understand why he is a Trumpster, no matter what.
My final comment here: Charlie's next-to-last belch before his final big one targeted certain governors, all blue, and especially Michigan's for sending the country into a boiling cauldron by closing businesses unnecessarily. Apparently, be believed we had gone overboard controlling a deadly virus--I would wish he could have hung around a little longer to see how that idea panned out once we began opening but I'm not naive enough to believe it would have change a single thing in that closed mind.
