UGA in contact with these two grad transfers:

6'7" 215lb. Combo Forward Jeantal Cylla, UNCW. Scouting report: "Face-up 4-man. Range to 3. Runs court. Ability to finish off the bounce."

and

6'4" combo guard Christian Keeling, from Augusta, Ga. Played at Charleston Southern.
He was CSU's leading scorer in all three of his seasons, and tested the NBA "waters" last Spring. In 2018-19 averaged 18.7 points per game, while earning first-team all-Big South Conference honors.

I can only assume that Creen does not feel he necessarily has to have the traditional PG, that a guard who can handle the ball and distribute in transition will suffice.

I think Crean will get a "traditional" PG in the '20 class, but next year the ball belongs to Edwards, plain and simple.

I think Keeling is a combo guard, like Ant. If we get him, I think playing both together would be a good combination.

Seemed this year that Clax's handles created mismatch problems and made it easy to get the ball up court quickly. Assuming he comes back, we may not need a fancy point guard to beat a press.

Probably the smartest response I have ever made as a member of this board!

I think it is fair to say that Crean is the anti-Fox, in that he wants to put as many scoring threats on the floor as he can and make the defense guard everybody. He wants everyone to be able to make shots.

That was the real trouble with our team this year. Even our two most effective three point shooters, Harris and Crump, were right around the team average in 3-point percentage. Our team average ranked something like 189th.

I hope the guys who are coming back, including Clax ( I hope) and Hammonds (I hope), spend a lot of time in the gym from now until October, practicing their shooting. Got to have that for us to win.

A quick word about Graduate Transfers - isn't that term a misnomer? If a student (regardless if he/she is an athlete or not) completes all of the coursework for their degree and graduates, then when they go to another institution to continue their education, they are NOT a "transfer". They are a grad student. If a grad student happens to have some athletic eligibility, so be it, but don't call them a "transfer". They are not transferring anything. They have completed their program at the original school, and are starting a new program at the new school.

And yes, I completely understand that I'm quite possibly the only person in the world who wonders about this! :-)

Sure, if you are graduating and going to another school for just grad school, you aren't transferring. If you are on a NCAA member's basketball roster, graduate, and have year of eligibility left, you are transferring from that program to another basketball program, to use that final year of eligibility.

What exactly are you transferring? Eligibility is an NCAA issue, not a member (ie. individual college) issue. If you are an undergrad, and after a year or two you want to go to a different school (say for example, Kennesaw St to UGA) then you have to make sure your credits and coursework are accepted by the new school. That's a transfer. But if you are an undergrad and you complete your degree, you are done with that college. Finished. You can stop going to school and get a job. You can apply for grad school at that college, or apply at any other college. You're free to go. Being on athletic scholarship does not change that. Scholarships are one-year deals that are renewed every year. They are not 4 or 5 year deals with any basis on, or requirement for, length of eligibility.

I will agree with you on that point.

Don't sleep on Jordan. He shot 41.5% from 3 this past season. Sample size was a little small because, if you ask me, he didn't shoot enough, and much of his production came in the late-season surge.

I'm really hoping some of these new weapons allow Jordan to shine next year...

If Harris can improve his handle, especially his right, he has next level potential.

Yeah, TOs are Jordan's biggest problem. He has to overcome that. He is too careless with the ball in his hands. He doesn't protect the ball when he drives. I hope he can overcome this issue in his senior season.
