2017 3* F Isaac Kante, 6'8", 236 lbs. from Brooklyn, NY signed w/ UGA on 2 May 2017. Last season he appeared in 10 games, played 24 minutes, scored 10 pts., grabbed 4 rebounds, blocked 1 shot, and had 3 TOs.

Fwiw, he had offers from DePaul, Duquesne, Fordham, Georgia, Georgetown, Kansas State, Niagara, St. Bonaventure, and St. John's.

Attrition is always expected when there is a coaching change, I don't really know much about Kante but we need more shooters, so hopefully his spot can be filled with a shooter. We have plenty of bigs left on the roster, but need a PG/shooter IMO.

I think it's too bad that Kante's leaving. I think he could have been a solid contributor off the bench by his junior or senior year. He needed to get in better shape. But I'm not sure how he fit with the running offensive style Crean wants to install. Also, he would be recruited over certainly, and he could see losing future PT, particularly if Hammonds starts playing more 4. I do like that this gives Crean another scholarship to use this season, perhaps on a grad transfer.

Old Dominion University (Norfolk, VA) is talking w/ Issac Kante about a possible transfer to the Monarchs.
